International Volunteer Organisation from Germany.
Founded in 2003 by former volunteers and friends, we have been sending ADiA workers to various projects worldwide since 2004. These are facilities that offer social services for children, homeless or other needy people. The “Verein für Soziale Dienste International e.V.” is a non-profit association, which is recognized by the Federal Office for Civilian Service as a supporting organization for the Other Service Abroad (ADiA) according to §14b ZDG. We will ensure that you are provisionally deferred from compulsory military/civilian service during your stay abroad and that you are released from it for life after the correct completion of the “ADiA”. In addition, we ensure that you take out all necessary (i.e. legally required) insurances and that you meet important deadlines on the way to the ADiA. The association was founded on October 3, 2003 by friends and former volunteers of the Franciscan Outreach Association in Frankfurt am Main with the aim of continuing to give young people the experience of doing Other Service abroad instead of their civilian service, thus promoting international understanding. It was entered in the Register of Associations at the Frankfurt am Main District Court on 8 April 2004 under the name “Association for Social Services in the United States of America – Association for the Promotion of the Other Service” (VR 12734). On July 27, 2004, the association was recognized by the Federal Office for Civilian Service as a provider of “Other Service Abroad” in accordance with §14 b, paragraphs 1 and 3 of the German Civilian Service Act (ZDG) for the FOA project in Chicago. In the same year we sent our first volunteers to the USA.
